All living things must have water to stay alive. Without water, your body would stop working correctly. The body is made up of approx 60-70% water depending on your body weight.

Your body has lots of important jobs and it needs water to do many of them. For example, your blood, which contains a lot of water, carries oxygen to all the cells of your body. Without oxygen, those tiny cells would die and your body would stop working. You also need water to digest your food and get rid of waste. Water is needed for digestive juices and water is the main element in sweat. In addition to being an important part of the fluids in your body, each cell depends on water to function normally.

Your body doesn’t get water only from drinking water. Any fluid you drink will contain water. Lots of foods contain water including fruits and vegetables.

When your body doesn’t have enough water it’s dehydrated. Dehydration can leave you lethargic with the feeling of lack of energy. A bad case of dehydration can make you sick, so keep that water bottle to hand at all times. Not only does water fight dehydration, but it’s revitalizing and has no calories.
